The style that got you stuck can’t get you out.
Everyone meets life with a natural design. But life, pressure, and gaps in our formation also teach us ways to feel safe. Under pressure we either overuse our design or stop using it, and over time those safety mechanisms start to feel like our personality.
Most people think, “This is just who I am.” That’s exactly where they get stuck. The way out isn’t trying harder at what you already know. It’s learning a new skill, with Jesus, until you live whole.
Which question do you ask first?
Each design starts with a different question, named for a book of the Bible. Tap one to explore it. Most people recognize themselves in one or two.
Genesis
The Explorer · “What could be?”
Sees possibility, imagines the new, and carries hope into every room. Curiosity and wonder help others picture a future they couldn’t see alone.
Under stress, scatters and starts something new instead of finishing. In lack, goes restless and numb.
“If I commit, I’ll be trapped.”
Exodus: love
Levi: faithfulness
Numbers: courage
Exodus
The Connector · “Why does it matter?”
Feels deeply, reads people well, and makes others feel seen. Turns ordinary moments into shared memories.
Under stress, people-pleases and carries everyone’s feelings. In lack, feels unseen and withdraws.
“I’m only okay when everyone is okay with me.”
Genesis: hope
Levi: faithfulness
Numbers: courage
Levi
The Builder · “How can we bring it to life?”
Plans, crafts, and turns ideas into something real and beautiful. People remember the experiences a Builder brings together.
Under stress, controls, overworks, and perfects. In lack, procrastinates and wonders what the point is.
“I’m only valuable when what I make is good enough.”
Genesis: hope
Exodus: love
Numbers: courage
Numbers
The Trailblazer · “When do we move?”
Sees what needs to happen, decides, and leads people forward. Because of a Trailblazer, worthwhile things actually happen.
Under stress, pushes harder and runs over feelings. In lack, gets reckless or creates a crisis to feel alive.
“If I stop moving, I lose.”
Genesis: hope
Exodus: love
Levi: faithfulness
This isn’t a box. In Jesus, we see imagination, compassion, wisdom, and courageous action working together. He lived all four, and you are made in His image.
Understanding yourself is only the beginning.
Recognize your design
How God made you to approach life. What you naturally love, notice, and bring to others.
Understand your formation
What affected you most, what you learned to do to feel safe, and how pressure pushes you into one of two ditches.
Practice Re-Formation
Cross the bridge by learning a new skill from your opposite design, while Jesus heals what lies underneath and leads you from one expanse to the next. Life moves with momentum, and over years, momentum becomes legacy.
“Your past may explain how you learned to respond, but it does not have to determine who you become.”
Behavior is what people see. Identity is the root.
Stress and lack show up in four layers. We usually try to fix the top one. But underneath every pattern is a lie about where our worth comes from, and that is where Jesus heals. Change the lie at the root, and the behaviors begin to follow.
When life is working, your design produces fruit.
When desire dies, purpose fades, and nothing seems worth owning.
You carry the weight of results without the desire that should fuel them.
Your bridge is a new skill.
Every design has a bridge: a skill from its opposite design that expands who you’re made to be. Genesis learns faithfulness from Levi. Levi learns hope from Genesis. Exodus learns courage from Numbers. Numbers learns love from Exodus. The skill doesn’t replace your gift. It completes it.
But some gaps can’t be closed by effort alone. Where our sensitivity was hurt, and where we learned to rely on ourselves to feel safe, Jesus fills every gap and brings healing to every hole. He carries us from one expanse to the next, and He is the model we follow: in Him, all four capacities live whole and free.
Walking it out with Jesus
“Am I responding this way because it reflects who I want to be, or because I learned I need to respond this way to feel safe?”
Not a label to lock into. A starting place to grow from.
Most assessments tell you who you are so you can settle into it. This one shows where you are right now, so you can see what to shape and grow into. We all operate from our preferences, but we aren’t stuck there.
Jesus is the picture of fullness: every gift, whole and complete. As we walk with Him, our strengths mature, our weaknesses become places where His power shows up (2 Corinthians 12:9), and we grow into a fuller version of who we’ve been.
Your bridge is a new skill from your opposite design. From there, growth keeps going, full circle: every design has something to learn from the other three. Tap any design to see what it learns.
What Genesis learns from the others
Growth isn’t only fixing weaknesses. Your own strengths mature too, as you become more like Jesus.
Enjoying life is a skill. You’re not stuck. You just haven’t learned the skill yet.
Before you begin
What is the Thinking Styles assessment?
A free discipleship and self-reflection tool based on Ravi Kandal’s teaching. It helps you notice how you naturally approach life, what affects you most, and how pressure may have shaped your responses, so you can grow with Jesus from where you actually are. It is not a clinical or scientific personality test.
What are Genesis, Exodus, Levi, and Numbers?
Four natural starting points, each with its own first question. Genesis, the Explorer, asks “What could be?” Exodus, the Connector, asks “Why does it matter?” Levi, the Builder, asks “How can we bring it to life?” Numbers, the Trailblazer, asks “When do we move?” Most of us begin with one, and every one of us can grow in all four.
Will it put a label on me?
No. Your starting point is not your limitation. The assessment shows where you begin so you can grow into the fullness of who God made you to be, learning new skills from every design.
How long does it take, and is it free?
About 9 minutes and 22 questions, and it is completely free. You’ll give your first name and email so we can send your results. You can unsubscribe at any time.
What will I receive?
